Up and running...

So after a little fine tuning the website is ready for action.
You can take a looksie at http://www.leighshepherddesigns.com - have a virtual glass of bubbles to celebrate :)

Todays pics are of a Mah Jong set I have just started working with. The tiles are vintage, I believe 1970s, but have only been played with a few times.I love the colour and detail on them!

Ta Da!

So here it is! This is a screen shot of the 'catalog'page of my brand spanking new website.

I have my fingers crossed that there won't be too many glitches to iron out. I didn't want any fancy moving graphics and what not - I always think they look good but often take too long to load. So I've gone for clean and simple (much like myself). There are some nice touches such as when an item is added to the basket a bar rises from the bottom of the screen with the order details. There is a good search facility too.

Now that the site is finished I should have more time to make and blog. So please take a look and let me know what you think :)

It's been a while!

It is really nice to sit here and write this and actually understand what I am doing! I have spent the last couple of weeks building my website.

I am not particularly computer savvy but I want a website that I am in control of, that I can update very quickly and at my convienience. I spent a long time deciding on the best way to go. I didn't want to pay someone to design and build it for me as I was unsure of exactly what I wanted 'til I got started! I keep my own erratic work hours, generally very early in the morning, evenings and late nights so I couldn't expect someone to work with me. By chance I stumbled across shopify .

Shopify allows you to create an ecommerce site (online shop) which they host for you. This can be done for free or you can upgrade to various packages for a monthly fee. Adding products is easy. Building the whole thing I haven't found so easy but thats probably just me!

Hopefully over the next few days my shop will be ready for launch!

The most amazing thing is that I have been making sales from it already.

I love days like these...

Its been a busy few days preparing orders which is why I have neglected my blog! I do love working like this though.

I am also waiting for a new shipment of Japanese papers to arrive so over the next few weeks I will have new designs available.

As well as all of this I am in the process of building my website, not bad for a techno numpty! More about this another time :)
